Beads fired by hand,
strung with purpose.
Krobodan Beads Limited is a Fair Trade women's cooperative turning recycled glass and clay into jewellery — and turning jewellery into wages, school fees and independence for the artisans of Yilo Krobo.
“Making Poverty History”
Krobodan Beads Limited
KBL was founded in 2007 as an affiliate of the Krobo Danish Association, an NGO operating across the Yilo Krobo Municipality of Ghana's Eastern Region.
Work with dignity
We improve the lives of disadvantaged, vulnerable and impoverished women of rural Krobo by providing steady employment through glass-bead and jewellery production.
Fair Trade, always
Every artisan works in good conditions at pay above the daily minimum wage — a group of women building better economic futures for themselves and their children.
Recently fired & strung
Women making jewellery, women making history
Every bead you see was cut, ground or fired by hand in Krobo, then strung one at a time by the women of our cooperative. Buying a piece here funds the kiln, the workshop, and the wages that carry a family further than the market price of a necklace ever could.
Wear a piece of Krobo.
New waist beads, necklace sets and clay pendants added weekly.
